How often have you said or thought that? I know I have several times. It’s very tempting to complete tasks and projects as quickly and effortlessly as possible.
However, an attitude of minimalism can easily seep into our lives. Tasks are easier now. Many times I’ve stumbled across harder work, and struggled with putting a lot of effort into it.
One day, my professor in college noticed a dip in our classes’ grades. Our writing assignments were getting sloppy; he found several mistakes and spelling errors. He lectured one day and pointed it out. He was disappointed and showed us a verse.
“If an animal has a defect, is lame or blind, or has any serious flaw, you must not sacrifice it to the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy 15:21 NIV).
He then explained that our work, our lives, anything we do, should be like a sacrifice for the Lord (Col. 3:17). We should work hard at what we do, and do it to the best of our abilities. Because what we’re doing, no matter how big or small, is for the Lord.
Even if the task is hard, God will be pleased if we give it to Him, and do our best.
